‘Let’s start at the very beginning, a very good place to start’ – thanks Julie Andrews.
Papa, aka Billy Bonk, founded Bonk & Co in 1976 with the simple aim of selling a more effective and efficient way of burning wood. Increasingly frustrated with his hugely inefficient open fire lead him down the path to where we now find ourselves today, improving the way we heat our homes.
His original research found that a wood burning stove produced 3 times more heat, but consumed a third of the firewood. At the start, he kept it simple, selling only a limited number of good value, well-made stoves that would be fit for purpose, and he made every effort to offer a great personal customer service.
Over the last 4 decades, our wood burning stoves may have become more efficient, cleaner burning and better looking but the original family principles remain at the heart of everything we do. What is really satisfying is now the third generation of our family is leading us into our 5th decade, and it is the third generation of those original pioneering customers who are now coming back for more.
We sell our 1st wood burning stove
We open the first dedicated wood burning stove showroom in scotland
Fed up with wasting time and fuel on his rubbish open fire, Papa set about finding a solution that would change our lives forever. After reading a newspaper article offering the chance to become a wood burning stove agent, he took the plunge, installed one in our family home and Bonk & Co was born!
We move across the firth to relocate in Inverness city centre
Awarded a royal warrant by her majesty the queen
Andrew was 16 when he met his first stove and it was love at ‘first sight’. 10 years later, recently married and now a father himself, fate threw him an opportunity, and he found himself running the family business.

Edinburgh showroom opens
Alex is the 3rd generation to be raised by the ‘stoves family’ and from a very young age he was never in doubt about joining the family business. In 2009, Alex came on board full time to work alongside his dad, and together in early 2011, they launched Bonk & Co Edinburgh.
We believe that being helpful is easier than not, and it just comes naturally to us!
We have learnt over the years that we have one mouth and two ears for a reason, which is why we make listening to our customers a priority, even if sometimes it can be hard to hear.
Sometimes a cliché, and often too easy to say, but going above and beyond for our customers is part of our DNA and we are actually pretty good at it now!
Simple, we only sell the best quality products we can and offer a service to match.
Often the hardest people to love, but the people who bring you the most joy, we believe our customers are our family. And while we might find it hard to always show it, we do love you lots!
We really do love what we do, and having fun within the company and with our customers is fundamental to how we work on a day-to-day basis.
Stove wisdom is only available to a select few experienced, dedicated and passionate people, but luckily we managed to bottle it up and we use it to sweeten the company coffee!
We believe buying a stove should be enjoyable! So from our initial chat, to delivering warmth and joy into your home, we promise to make your journey with us one to remember!!
The head of the Bonk & Co family, he is very well respected and loved by all. He is also the guy you want on your team if you are playing trivial pursuits!
Deborah occasionally sells stoves in her spare time, but her real passion is for searching through local auction houses for her latest piece of artwork for the walls at home.
I love the modern look, especially in white. Oh and it rotates, which makes it a great showpiece!
It can be difficult to keep up with Alex, everyday there is always some new product or adventure to be explored. But it does give us plenty to talk about during our coffee breaks! He is also the proud 'father' to Phoebe, the Bonk & Co labrador #thebonkdog
The Harrie Leenders Boxer Plus
Its unrivaled combustion techniques and storage capabilities make the Boxer Plus the purest heating appliance on the market. In my opinion the best wood burning stove ever made!

Nothing I say will do this stove justice, but I do think I would appreciate it more if it was installed at home...PLEASE??
Anna is one of those annoying people that likes to run & bike in her spare time, and often competes in endurance races to really rub it in our faces!! But this gives her great energy around the office, which we all appreciate and really lover about her!
I love the quality, the looks and the performance...simple!
There is nothing Jeanne likes more than a well organised system. Keeping things running smoothly is her forte. In her spare time you will find her in front of a larger screen, watching one of her favourite movies from her extensive DVD collection.

Phoebe is our beloved office dog and the in-house Bonk & Co model. She loves nothing better to do than kick back in her own office chair, making sure we are all hard at work. But her real passion is getting out in the wild and in front of the camera, that's why we pay her the big bucks!
Its my favorite stove at home, especially as it can light and refuel itself...just like magic!
Cece joined the Bonk team in late 2017 and provides great pawsitivity to the staff. Usually based in Inverness but makes the occasional trip to Edinburgh to give us pointers...

Finally a great freestanding stove that looks like the real thing but connects straight to the mains gas feed.
